In the video, the family company Hereford Furniture encountered a huge financial trouble in their production. For a manufacture company, it is very important to have their own design and special workmanship. Hereford is dependent on importing the products from China and they only try to improve the appearance, they did not have their own brand before having some changes. Digby Jones is one of the famous troubleshooters in United Kingdom, many companies which had problems in financial management asked him to visit their company and helped them solve the troubles.
According to the video, i have learned that creativity in design is of significance to development of companies. Firstly, a company which want to achieve success must have their unique characteristics in production, for example, you should have your own symbol to represent your products.This can make customers remember your products for a long time and increase the recognition of goods in the market.Owing to the fierce competition in the manufature market, if a company want to have their fixed amount of customers, they need to build their brands and benefits that others can not imitate.
As for a successful company, they have their unique sign such as a symbol or graph to print on their products, representing their special design and creative styles. So Digby Jones suggested Hereford to learn from the experience of a home accessories company which had achieved great progress in attracting a large amount of customers. Encouraging their staffs to join in the symbol's design is also f very useful method to enhance the employees' confidence in the company and build the culture of their company. Moreover, the designed symbols can also reflect the companies' personalities which are out of ordinary.
Secondly, completing the market positioning is one of the important steps that must be taken in business process. Identifying the target market is good to designing the products and it is also useful to make sure that manufactured products meet demand of the target market and consumers' preference.For example, advertisements need to appeal to consumers’ needs.
